Privacy Policy — Bikote

Last updated: 2026-08-31

1. Who We Are

Yohz Ventures Sdn Bhd ("we", "us") operates Bikote (the "Service"), a platform that helps players of the sports it supports (at launch: pickleball, padel, and tennis) find compatible doubles partners. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who can see it, and the choices you have. Questions or requests: support@yohz.com.

2. Information We Collect

Account and profile information you provide: display name, email, gender, birth year, height (optional), a short bio (optional), a profile photo (optional), a short profile video (optional — see Section 6 on automated screening), the approximate location (city/town) you select (including your recent selections), which supported sports you join, and per-sport playing preferences from the intake questionnaire (such as preferred side, handedness, goals, target events, and training habits). You also enter a self-assessed skill rating per sport; self-assessments are treated as self-reported.

Questionnaire responses: your answers about playing style, competitive goals, communication preferences, and how you respond to common match situations. These are used solely to assess pairing compatibility. They are not a psychological assessment.

Connections and social graph: friend requests and partner invitations you send and receive (including acceptances and declines), your resulting friends list, and who invited whom. Your friends list is not visible to other users. If you connect by scanning a court-session QR code generated by a host, we also record that redemption (which code, when, and whether it led to a new signup); session codes are temporary and expire within hours.

Assessments you submit about other players: ratings may only be exchanged between connected users ("friends" — including partner invitations that are accepted). When you rate a friend's skills or answer observational questions about their play, we collect those responses linked to your account (for quality and integrity purposes) and to the assessed player's profile (as an input to their aggregated skill profile).

Assessments others submit about you: the Service is built on peer assessment by your accepted connections. By accepting a friend or partner request, you acknowledge that the connected user may submit ratings and observations about your play, which we process as data about you. You will only ever see such input in aggregated form. See Section 4.

Messages and interactions: messages you exchange with other users through the Service, connection requests, partner invitations, and feedback you give after playing with a partner (for example, whether you would partner with someone again).

Automatically collected information: device type, app version, log data, IP address, and usage events (screens viewed, features used). Precise device location is collected only if you enable it; otherwise we use the approximate location you provide.

3. How We Use Information

  • Matching: computing skill profiles, compatibility scores, and partner suggestions from your profile, questionnaire answers, peer assessments, and self-assessed ratings, per sport.
  • Generated descriptions: producing match summaries and pairing breakdowns. Some of this text is generated by third-party AI language model services processing a limited, pre-structured extract of pairing data (see Section 6). We do not send raters' identities or your raw questionnaire answers about another person to these services.
  • Service operation: accounts, messaging, notifications, support.
  • Integrity and safety: detecting fraudulent or manipulated ratings, enforcing our Terms of Use, and protecting users.
  • Improvement and research: aggregate analytics and calibration of our matching system (for example, learning which factors predict successful partnerships). Where practicable we use aggregated or de-identified data for this purpose.
  • Communications: service messages, and marketing only with your consent where required by law, with opt-out available at any time.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.

4. Peer Assessments — Special Rules

Peer assessment is unusual, so we apply specific protections:

When assessment becomes possible. Only accepted connections can rate each other. The acceptance screen states that connected users may assess each other's play; accepting constitutes your acknowledgment of this processing. You can remove a connection at any time, which prevents further assessments from that user.

Anonymity of raters. Individual assessments are never shown to the assessed player or to anyone else. Players see only aggregated results (such as banded scores and combined profiles), and only once a minimum number of raters have contributed. Because raters are drawn from your connections, complete anonymity cannot be guaranteed — someone with very few connections may be able to guess who contributed. We reduce this risk by using coarse bands, minimum-rater thresholds before anything is displayed, and delayed or batched profile updates so that no single new assessment visibly changes your profile on its own.

What the assessed player controls. If you are assessed, you may: view your aggregated profile; contest an aggregated profile you believe is materially inaccurate by contacting support@yohz.com; request removal of your profile and the assessment data linked to it (see Section 8); and opt out of receiving new assessments.

What raters should know. Your individual responses are linked to your account internally (for integrity, weighting, and abuse prevention) but are not disclosed to the assessed player or other users. If you delete your account, your identifiable link to past assessments is removed; your responses may persist in already-aggregated form where they can no longer be attributed to you.

Access requests and rater confidentiality. Where data-protection law gives an assessed player a right of access to data about them, we will provide the aggregated data and, where the law permits, withhold or redact information that would identify individual raters, on the basis that their input was given with an expectation of confidentiality.

5. Who Can See Your Information

Other users:

  • Anyone using search: your display name, photo, general location area, and basic playing information sufficient to identify you for a friend or partner request. You can limit your discoverability in search via the app's Settings.
  • Connected users and candidate partners: additionally, your playing preferences, aggregated skill profile (banded radar and derived labels), compatibility indicators for specific candidate pairings, and pairing descriptions generated from them.

Other users never see your raw questionnaire answers, your individual assessment inputs, your friends list, or who rated you. Compatibility content shown to a candidate partner describes the pairing, not your private answers.

Service providers: hosting, analytics, messaging/notification delivery, and AI text-generation providers (Section 6), each bound by contracts limiting use to providing services to us.

Legal: where required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of users or the public.

Business transfers: if we are acquired or reorganized, data may transfer subject to this policy.

6. AI Processing

Pairing descriptions and breakdowns are generated using third-party large language model APIs — currently Google (Gemini models) and OpenAI. What we send is a limited, structured extract: coarse skill bands, pairing archetypes, pre-written pairing hints, and first names or display names. We do not send raters' identities, individual assessment responses, or one player's questionnaire answers for disclosure to another. Generated text is checked before display.

Automated media screening: profile photos and profile videos you upload are screened by automated moderation before they are shown to other users. For videos, sampled frames are analyzed by third-party AI vision services to detect prohibited content; media that fails screening is rejected and not published. Moderation decisions are recorded for integrity purposes.

7. Retention

We keep personal data while your account is active and as needed for the purposes above. Messages: retained while your account is active. Assessment inputs: retained while relevant to an active profile, then deleted or de-identified. Deleted accounts: personal data removed or de-identified within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for dispute resolution. Aggregated, de-identified data may be retained for analytics and matching calibration.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law, you may: access the personal data we hold about you (see Section 4 on rater confidentiality); correct inaccurate data; delete your account and associated data; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; object to or restrict certain processing; receive a copy of data you provided in a portable format; and complain to your data protection authority (such as the Personal Data Protection Department (JPDP) in Malaysia). Exercise these via in-app controls or by emailing support@yohz.com. We may need to verify your identity first.

Deleting your account removes your profile from matching, your aggregated skill profile from view, and your identifiable data from our systems per Section 7. It does not recall messages you sent to other users or feedback already aggregated beyond attribution.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (encryption in transit, access controls, logging) appropriate to the data we hold. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify you and regulators of breaches where required by law.

10. Children

The Service is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and we delete such data on discovery. Do not submit assessments of players under 18.

11. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own — in particular the United States, where our hosting infrastructure is located (AWS us-west-2, Oregon). Where required, we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or other applicable mechanisms, for such transfers.

12. Changes

We will notify you of material changes in-app or by email. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance where permitted; where consent is required, we will ask for it.
