Frequently asked questions
Everything about privacy, how matching actually works, who Bikote is for, and pricing.
Privacy & trust
Who can see the shot ratings and skill data my friends give me?+
No one — not even you. Bikote only ever shows the combined result from at least three friends; individual ratings, and who gave them, are never revealed. It's the only way friends can be honest without worrying about your reaction.
Can one bad-faith rating tank my score?+
No. Ratings are combined across a minimum of three raters before they count toward your profile at all — a single outlier rating gets outweighed by the group, not the other way around.
What does my Compatibility Profile reveal to other people?+
Nothing raw. Your answers to the paired compatibility questionnaire are only ever used to compute a match score and short "works best with" / "watch out for" hints — nobody you match with ever sees your actual answers.
Is my exact location shared with other users?+
No. Bikote stores and matches on a coarse area (roughly a 150 km zone), never a home address or exact pin — there's no way for another user to find out exactly where you live from using the app.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?+
You can request deletion anytime in Settings. Your account enters a 30-day grace period in case you change your mind, after which everything is permanently deleted.
How matching works
Are all shots weighted equally in my skill score?+
No. Each shot counts differently based on how much it actually decides doubles points — in pickleball, for example, your dink counts almost five times more toward your score than your lob. The weighting is sport-specific and built from real gameplay impact, not a simple average.
Why does compatibility matter — why not just match by skill level?+
Two players can measure as equally skilled and still be a bad team. Bikote's match score weighs pressure response, communication, and shot selection alongside skill — and any pair with three or more serious compatibility red flags is filtered out entirely, no matter how well their skills line up. For example: one player thrives on aggressive net play under pressure, the other tends to freeze and hang back — skill-only matching pairs them anyway, and the partnership falls apart at 4-4 in a tournament game.
How many friends need to rate me before I show up as a potential partner?+
At least three. Fewer than that isn't a reliable signal, so your profile stays out of search until you clear that bar — invite the people you've actually played with to get there faster.
Do I rate myself, or do only my friends rate me?+
Both, for different things. You give a starting self-rating, used to set your searchable skill range — but the skill score that actually drives your fit with other players comes entirely from friends who've played with you.
What if nobody near me uses Bikote yet?+
Bring your group. Any host at a court session can generate a temporary QR code — everyone who scans it connects instantly, so you can seed an entire group of first-time users from one session.
I'm traveling for a tournament — can I find partners in another city?+
Yes. With Premium, open the Partners tab, tap Filters, and set the Location to the city you're visiting — your matches re-center there for the trip. You can also share your player card link with players in a local group or scan a session QR at the courts, so people there connect with you directly. The one caveat: matches only turn up where other players already use Bikote, so it works best in cities with an active base — and it's a good reason to bring the players you meet at the tournament onto Bikote with you.
Who it's for
Is Bikote a dating app?+
No. Bikote exists to help you find playing partners, rate friends' skills, and see how your friends rate your game — nothing else. It isn't an organizer, a matchmaker, or a social network of any kind.
I'm not trying to find a competitive partner — is there anything here for me?+
Yes. Watch your shots improve over time as rated by the people who've actually played with you, discover your own play archetype — a fun, shareable read on how you play, regardless of skill level — and get invited by friends who just want a reliable partner for a casual game, not necessarily a "competitive" one.
Pricing
What do I actually lose after the 60-day trial ends?+
During your trial you get full access to everything. After day 60, you keep your free profile, friend ratings, discoverability, messaging with existing connections, and 5 partner invites a month. It's a clean cutover, not a gradual paywall.
Can I cancel anytime?+
Yes. Cancel anytime through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings — you'll keep Premium access through the end of your current billing period.
